Fireplace wall is crossed lined with 1000 grade lining paper, (The idea of lining is that it helps with unevenness of the walls and also provides a good backing for the top paper, cross lining is done so that it eliminates wallpaper edges meeting each other, as this will cause the paper edges to lift away) if you look closely, you will see a small gap between 1mm – 2mm on each run of paper, this is very important – the idea of the gap is to allow the paper to expand again when the pasted top paper is hung vertically, if no gap is left you find hard ridges appearing horizontally through the top paper once dried.

Additional walls needed filling with Toupret Interior Filler

Whilst carrying out preparation procedures prior to cross lining feature walls, we come across several blemishes in the wall areas that needed additional filling (Toupret Interior filler used)

After the walls have been lightly sanded apply a mist coat of diluted trade brilliant white vinyl matt emulsion (dilution: depending on your chosen brand of emulsion, always read the information on the can, dilution varies from manufacturer to manufacturer anything from 10% – 40%, if in doubt contact the manufacturer).
