Services Portfolio Witham, Essex

Paul Walden Interiors undertook a modernisation project for prestigious customer based in Witham, Essex. Project specifications, was to bring the home up to date rather than being stuck in the early nineties, the project itself consisted of a new fitted kitchen & cloakroom, to update the overall decoration of the ground level to continue up through the stairwell & landing area, to install new flooring through out and to standardise the electrical lighting to LED’s and last of all to replace front/rear entrance doors. Kitchen: The kitchen units were originally made from solid wood and was in need of attention, we came across all types of problems including broken drawers/doors, considering the age of the units, around late 1980’s – early nineties the kitchen has done extremely well but it was time for change and to be updated.

About Photo

Whilst removing the old kitchen we came across a major pipe work problem, where pipes were originally added to help support the kitchen.

Kitchen

Due to the unevenness and chasing out of the electrical cables of the walls it was decided to re-plaster the whole kitchen area, hence the holes are pre-drilled for the LED down lights.

Kitchen Partition

Whilst stripping out the old kitchen we started to remove the partition and on removing the plaster boarding we found what seemed to be a 1970’s glass partition – in its hay day I think it would have been a stylish addition to the style of kitchen installed at that time.

About Photo

The rear view of the kitchen shows the units are continuous with the old style layout along with a partition that needs to be removed for the new kitchen. The lighting will also be updated to LED’s down lighters along with a new Karndean floor to be laid.

Testimonial From Mr and Mrs D, Witham, Essex

Paul did a great job, not only modernising the look of our house (was: old dated 1980s with too much pink, now: modern, light with a great floor – Paul your advice was bang on the money), but project managed the whole thing ‘Soup to Nuts’. Nothing was too much trouble to get right, and we were sufficiently comfortable with Paul that we were able to hand him the keys and disappear during the worst of the “gutting stage”. Absolutely no hesitation recommending Paul and his work to anyone. Mr and Mrs D – Witham, Essex

Are your interior design tastes inline with modern and stylish concepts for your living room or lounge?

You may want to do something similar to this image in lightening up your walls with a contrasting floor of a darker color. During this job in Essex, we decided on Acanthus Leaf Marble Matt wall paint by Mylands of London.

Bright white was used for the ceiling and ornate ceiling rose, both in matt finishes. Interior decorating always comes with many options and the owners wanted a darker fireplace surround. Interior design also comes with guidance by the designer who is hired for his or her perspective. Always listen to your designer about their thoughts, but always know that you’re the ultimate authority when it comes to your own home, as no two persons have the exact same styles. Paul Walden Interiors respects this and is here to guide you during your decision making.

This room was decorated with light colors and plenty of natural lighting, so we felt a darker fireplace surround would be too heavy and more of an eyesore that the owners will eventually tire of as it would be so noticeable and the first thing noticed when walking into this room. So we advised and we all agreed on a brilliant white eggshell finish that adds to the modern look of the room and everything equalizes nicely.

The flooring needed a dark contrasting color and the Herringbone design is perfect for blending in some of the lighter colors from the room’s overall concept of light, airy and roominess. The flooring is Auburn Oak APO2 by Karndean Art Select Range.
